Flatland is more than a church. We are a multifaceted organization committed to inspiring people to develop life-transforming relationships with God.
Our name begins with our logo. Like a drop of rain in a dry land, we desire to bring life and hope to everyone around us. The name, Flatland, reflects our region—the Great Plains. It also reflects our style—it's not "churchy." Most importantly, it reflects a level playing field. We don't believe that any person is better than another, or that any role in the church is more important than another. We're not into organized, irrelevant religion. Instead, we're genuine people seeking to live out authentic relationships with God and with one another. Flatland has two locations: our east venue is located at the Marcus Midtown Cinema, 3201 Farnam Street, and our west location is at 4801 North 144th Street. Why have multiple locations? One of our pastors, Bart Wilkins, says, "It's an amazing way to grow large while holding each venue to a healthy size. Many people like the varied programs a large church can offer; but others like the family atmosphere of a relatively small church. This way, we can offer both." As we continue expanding throughout Omaha, our plan is to establish venues that can seat approximately 600 people. Look for more locations and additional worship times in the coming months and years as Flatland continues to reach people throughout Omaha.

Before Jesus came into my life, I thought the bad kids were the cool kids. I thought smoking was cool and being a gangster was my dream job. But after a while, my heart began to harden and grow cold. I had no sense of empathy and I was very selfish. Soon I began to spiral into a depression from the drugs and the atmosphere of my friend group. I was suffering, but I was afraid if I killed myself, I would go to hell. It felt like a lose-lose situation. Why end the suffering here, if I'm just going to be suffering for the rest of eternity? I didn't want to take the gamble, so I cried out to Jesus asking him to forgive me and to take away my chains of addiction. The truth I stood on from God's word was Matthew 7:13-14. “Enter through the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to hell and many enter through it, but narrow the road and small the gate that leads to life and only a few find it.” The sermon I heard pertaining this passage changed my perspective. The pastor said, “even the demons know that Jesus is Lord, but that doesn't mean they're going to heaven”. I knew if I wanted the confidence, joy, and peace that is freely given by Jesus, I would have to go and grab it myself. We are living in a time that is straying farther and farther away from God's light, and I believe he's going to use me for his message of spreading the Gospel.

Bryan and I have been praying and searching for an answer from God on whether we were supposed to sell our home or not. I did not have peace about selling and kept asking God to give me a clear picture. We have a widowed neighbor across the street that we try to always wave to or help as needed. I stopped to tell him to have a good afternoon and he made a point to tell me how much he appreciated that and that we always go out of our way to be a good neighbor. The next day Bryan answered the door and it was our neighbor with homemade zucchini bread and he said he wanted to follow our example and be a good neighbor! He also said he loves that we are here, making a difference in the neighborhood. As soon as Bryan came and told me about that I felt like God spoke to me in that very moment that is what a home of influence looks like and we were supposed to stay in our home. I had an infection that was heading to my jaw which could result in part of my jaw being removed. As a result I was admitted to the hospital. My friend Lisa put me on the Flatland prayer chain. The Lord guided my doctors in my treatment. Within two days the infection was on the run, the swelling went down and the pain subsided faster than the doctors anticipated.
